Dear Loyal Readers, Supportive Advertisers and Big Island Community,
I am sorry to announce
that, effective immediately, I have decided to stop publishing Keiki Talk
Magazine.
When
I debuted the magazine in July 2008, I had high hopes for the future. I set out
to provide parents with informative articles and local resources in a handy
publication. As a new mom myself, I was searching for family-friendly events
and businesses on The Big Island, and I wanted to share the information with other parents.
However,
magazine publishing proved to be more difficult than I had imagined. I took it
upon myself to do it all – collecting articles, seeking out calendar entries,
designing all of the ads, as well as the entire magazine. Plus, I did the web updates, bookkeeping and deliveries. It was overwhelming.
Things
became more complicated when, in early 2009, my husband accepted a job in
Oregon. Our whole family moved to a snowy mountaintop in Crater Lake National
Park. Nevertheless, I believed in Keiki Talk and committed myself to
maintaining the magazine from the mainland.
Unfortunately,
over two years later, the added stress and financial burden of Keiki Talk has
taken its toll. It’s become increasingly difficult to manage the day-to-day
operations of the magazine. Furthermore, I've been struggling with health issues for
a while now and I've decided to make my health a priority.
It’s been an honor to provide Keiki Talk Magazine to The Big
Island community for almost three years. I’m sorry to see it go.
Take care. Love your Family. And, farewell, Keiki Talk
Magazine.
Me ke aloha,
Kelly Noles
